My grandmother does not understand why I love playing with the keyboard

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Hi. My name is Raimi. The Sleepy Surfer. If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

It was a cold night. i was sitting in front of my PC inside my room. I can see the a full moon from my window beside me. My grandmother looked at me. She paused for awhile and she walks away, making a cup of coffee for herself.

Then she came to me again and stares at me again, still playing with my keyboard. I smiled at her, chit chat a little bit and a few minutes later, she she told me that she wants to watch the TV. Then I continue playing with the keyboard..

My grandmother do not know why I was so excited playing with my keyboard. She doesn’t know that by playing with my keyboard, I was writing an article.

She doesn’t know that by playing with my keyboard, I was implementing a popular and effective website promotion strategy.

I don’t know how to tell her that if I can have a very focus mind to play with the keyboard, I can produce a lot of targeted traffic to my website ..

She also did not know that after I finished playing with my keyboard, there are several benefits that I can enjoy - such as; targeted traffic, exposure, back links, and boosting page rank for increased search engine rankings.

The only thing that I can do that time was to smile at her, and express our love in our own ways. and I think that is more important than trying to explain to her why I love to play with my keyboard.

4 proven strategy to waste your time with Article Marketing

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

Creative Commons License photo credit: Dawn Ashley

  1. Write about amazing tips and tricks that are not related to your niche - Lets say your niche is golfing. You shoult try to write about movie reviews. People love movie reviews. So golfers also love movie reviews. its so simple, just pick up any magazine from the bookstore in your neighbourhood, get some points and ideas and write your article!
  2. Submit your article manually to at least 500 article directories - If you work hard enough, you will see the return in the future. Well… atleast that was everyone was thinking. Anyways, hardwork is the key to success
  3. Do not Plan your Articles in advance - Each week you need to make a number of article. Do not plan how many articles that you want to write. When the time comes, just write. Do not plan the topics of your articles in advane. This will give you a tremendous headache! We write articles to make money, not headaces!
  4. Do not ask feedback on your articles for improvements- Everybody have their own point of view. Just ignore whatever people said about your article whether its good or bad. whether you are a newbie or advance marketer, You are good already!

Why your “Set it and forget it” making money website will make you SLEEPY all the time!

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

Just read Affiliate Marketing with Ryan Blog about his experience on Tweaking his website.

I could not agree more about this post. Tweaking your website is very very important as time goes by, the environment changes. This includes your market. So if you have a website and expect it to make money for you, its not gonna work.

I’m not saying its not working at all. It might have returns in short term but as your market changes, your website need changes too. If you are just concentrating on marketing your website, and not tweaking it time after time, you are going to waste your valuable time.

You will wonder why is your website is not making money even when you want to go to sleep. You will end up not getting enough sleep! You will feel sleepy all day long…ZZZZzzZZzzZZzz (personal experience)

To share my experience on tweaking my website, I had a review page that promote a software /game download website. The aim of this simple web page is to get the visitors buy the offer that I was promoting through my affiliate link.

I got one sale and nothing in a few weeks. Then I tweak the site and add a simple form to get their email address so that I can follow up with them later. Those who sign up with my newsletter will get a free bonus. I got more sales after that (I cant remember how many to be honest) and then no sales again.

Then I move the form a little higher in the review site with a graphic. the result I got more sign ups and most of the sales are from my list.

I cant agree more about the benefits of tweaking your website. A website is like a life form . It doesn’t stay there. it evolves according to the environment just like us.

If you got your own experience, do share them here :)

The 3 points that wasted my 15 minutes

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

I just read Dean Hunt’s post on the 7 Reasons why Working Online is better than Your Job. It was a short and sweet article but there are three points that makes me think a while and read it over and over again. and there goes my 15 minutes.. I wanted to do something else but these three points got me hooked :-

1 - The Value of Being Remote

I can work anywhere that has an Internet Connection. I have worked on the beach, I have worked in Spain, UK, America and more… I have worked from the side of a pool whilst the sun shines down upon me. I have worked in the garden whilst sipping a beer. You can work almost anywhere in the world, and if there is a wireless connection, then the possibilities are endless.

Note: I know a guy who has worked from the deck of the sunken Titanic. Amazingly there was a wireless Internet connection there.

Comment: Wow. I love to work anywhere in the world. Bt the challenge is, is there a wireless internet connection? And when Dean said he knows a guy that worked from the deck of the sunken Titanic, I don’t know if I want to believe him or not.. Maybe I need to ask Dean where is the deck now..maybe in the museum?

4 - Informal Freedom

I have worked in my shorts on numerous occasions. The ability to work in any clothing can save a lot of time and hassle. Make sure your neighbours cannot see through your windows though

Comment: When I read this point, I was thinking if I dont have my day job and working online is my main source of income, I will still wear better attire. Its like a commitment and showing your seriousness. So far, I personally think there are a lot of marketers over hype the term “working in your pajamas” or “making money in your pajamas”.But that is just my view. Other people may have other opinion and I respect them.. :)

7 - You rule

Within reason you can be your own boss. This means that your day is not dependant on whether your boss is having a bad day or not.

Comment: If you are the boss. You are also the staff. Many people have the mindset of being a boss is less work and more thinking. If you are starting out, you have to do many things. Its a one man show! But don’t take it from the negative point of view. We all can achieve our goal. We just need to challenge our self.

Despite my comment, I really have to say I love the article and it gave me motivation on what I currently working on. I wish Dean will share more of his thoughts so that I can learn more.

p/s: sorry for any grammar mistakes.. I just write what I want to write and I am also sleepy :P

What?? another blog directory?

Monday, February 25th, 2008

Ahson Rafiq from Blueverse.com shared his view on www.blogged.com  . I remember a few years back, I dont like submitting a website to a web directory. Its not because I am lazy but the web directories’ design was not user friendly and they are not inviting at all. But then, the quality of those directories are good!

Creative Commons License photo credit: Mike Licht, NotionsCapital.com    After the overlyhype web 2.0 concept and design, too many new directories were born and this includes the blog directories. The design was great (atleast for me) and it s kinda motivates me to submit a website / blog even though if you don’t have any! but the question now is what is the quality of each site.

If its just like a spam nest of webmasters who do not deliver good contents, it doesnt bring any value to the community.

Please let me know whats your view on this :)
