Friday, April 4th, 2008

Hi. My name is Raimi. The Sleepy Surfer. If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Jimmy is a blogger and also a webmaster who wants to market his website and blogs using the mystical and magical techniques of Search Engine Optimization. he got alot of unique traffic everyday. His techniques are proven to be effective in SEO marketing.

Jimmy knows that using his main keywords in the title of his blog post and websites are important as Mr Spider Robots loves them.

Not all browsers append whatever you put in the title tag by adding their own name, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer or OPERA is not one of them.

Jimmy is aware that the title tag is totally different from a Meta tag. However, it’s worth considering it in relation to them.

All major web crawlers will use the text of your title tag as the text they use for the title of your page in your listings.

Any text that are in the title tag (between the <title> and </title> portions) will magically appear in the title bar of browsers when they view the mystical web page.

The actual text that Jimmy use in the title tag is one of the most important factors in how a search engine may decide to rank Jimmy’s web page or blog.

Jimmy has given a good SEO practices for all website and blogs. It is recommended for you to follow what jim has done for his website and blogs.

More facts about the Spider Robots!

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

In the last post, I wrote about the Search engine Spiders and SEO. I know that the information is not enough but I would rather write one thing at a time. And and this post, I will tell you a few more facts about our Search Engine Spider Robots!

Creative Commons License photo credit: azrainman

  • The spider robots will periodically return to the sites to check for any information that has changed. The frequency with which this happens is determined by the moderators of the search engine.
  • A spider’s brain is almost like a Complete Report or an Encyclopedia where it contains the table of contents, the actual content and the links and references for all the websites it finds during its search, and it may index up to a million pages a day.
  • Search engine will search through the index which it has created by the Spider Robots and not actually searching the Web.
  • Different search engines produce different rankings because not every search engine uses the same species of Spider Robots to search through the indices.

Ya know, these spiders are like a new species created by mankind. They are evolving and have a mind of their own. I wonder if they ever get inlove with each other, maried and get their own children and pursue their career in the Serach Engines :)

Read the Blueverse’s Business plan, the 3 benefits that wasn’t told

Monday, March 10th, 2008

Creative Commons License photo credit: WorldIslandInfo.com

Ashon Rafiq from Blueverse.com wrote a really good post about how to do your business online or off line. The first thing that you need to do is to plan your business.

As for me, I found writing my plans gave me a few benefits. While there are a lot of benefits of writing your business plan, I can just come out witha few.. hey, I’m sleepy okay… I’ll share more in the future if I remember :P. The following are a few points that I can come up with..

You will discover valuable information about your business/niche/industry

Your in-depth research and planning will help you to have a more clear picture about the steps that you will take to achieve your goal. You will also discover the important information on how to improve your business in the long run. Jot them down and prioritize them.

You will know more about hidden information of your competitors.

Writing a detailed plan for your business forces you to assess your competitors. You will discover their strengths and weaknesses, which is a benefit for you to run your business.

You will gain more confidence

Once you have it all on paper, you will see a better picture of your long term goal. Visualise your success and this will help you to gain more confidence.

I really recommend Mark Joyner’s Simpleology to learn more about planning your business.

Three changes that will make you look like stupid marketer

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

In the last post, I have discussed about how to improve your affiliate marketing campaign by doing a few tweaks to your website. In some cases, a single tweak or changes can increase your earning handsomely!

However, based on my personal experience, there are a few things that you should avoid.

  1. Choosing more than 1 product at a time - If you are just starting out, you should avoid promoting too many products at one time. I know you want to make a multiple stream of income. But it is better for you to focus on one product at a time. Choose and promote one product untill untill you have a succesful marketing campaign. Then repeat that methods with another product!
  2. Position your headline slightly lower. You headline important. So you do not want to put your headline below the fold. Make sure that the first thing that your visitors are going to see is your headline. Keep it simple. do not use fancy fonts. Your goal is to send the message to your visitor.
  3. Get rid of your autoresponder sign up form - This is obviously the most important thing in your business. Do not get rid of your newsletter sign up form . If you own a blog, make sure your RSS feeds are above the fold so that your visitors can see them and sign up with the feed. It is important to build relationship with your visitors!

There you have it. This is based on my personal experience. If you can challenge these point, go ahead. promote many product at one time . I have no problem. Because there are people who are very good and talented. But if you are just starting out, as an Affilate marketer, I suggest that you read again my post and follow them accordingly.

Why your “Set it and forget it” making money website will make you SLEEPY all the time!

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

Just read Affiliate Marketing with Ryan Blog about his experience on Tweaking his website.

I could not agree more about this post. Tweaking your website is very very important as time goes by, the environment changes. This includes your market. So if you have a website and expect it to make money for you, its not gonna work.

I’m not saying its not working at all. It might have returns in short term but as your market changes, your website need changes too. If you are just concentrating on marketing your website, and not tweaking it time after time, you are going to waste your valuable time.

You will wonder why is your website is not making money even when you want to go to sleep. You will end up not getting enough sleep! You will feel sleepy all day long…ZZZZzzZZzzZZzz (personal experience)

To share my experience on tweaking my website, I had a review page that promote a software /game download website. The aim of this simple web page is to get the visitors buy the offer that I was promoting through my affiliate link.

I got one sale and nothing in a few weeks. Then I tweak the site and add a simple form to get their email address so that I can follow up with them later. Those who sign up with my newsletter will get a free bonus. I got more sales after that (I cant remember how many to be honest) and then no sales again.

Then I move the form a little higher in the review site with a graphic. the result I got more sign ups and most of the sales are from my list.

I cant agree more about the benefits of tweaking your website. A website is like a life form . It doesn’t stay there. it evolves according to the environment just like us.

If you got your own experience, do share them here :)

The 3 points that wasted my 15 minutes

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

I just read Dean Hunt’s post on the 7 Reasons why Working Online is better than Your Job. It was a short and sweet article but there are three points that makes me think a while and read it over and over again. and there goes my 15 minutes.. I wanted to do something else but these three points got me hooked :-

1 - The Value of Being Remote

I can work anywhere that has an Internet Connection. I have worked on the beach, I have worked in Spain, UK, America and more… I have worked from the side of a pool whilst the sun shines down upon me. I have worked in the garden whilst sipping a beer. You can work almost anywhere in the world, and if there is a wireless connection, then the possibilities are endless.

Note: I know a guy who has worked from the deck of the sunken Titanic. Amazingly there was a wireless Internet connection there.

Comment: Wow. I love to work anywhere in the world. Bt the challenge is, is there a wireless internet connection? And when Dean said he knows a guy that worked from the deck of the sunken Titanic, I don’t know if I want to believe him or not.. Maybe I need to ask Dean where is the deck now..maybe in the museum?

4 - Informal Freedom

I have worked in my shorts on numerous occasions. The ability to work in any clothing can save a lot of time and hassle. Make sure your neighbours cannot see through your windows though

Comment: When I read this point, I was thinking if I dont have my day job and working online is my main source of income, I will still wear better attire. Its like a commitment and showing your seriousness. So far, I personally think there are a lot of marketers over hype the term “working in your pajamas” or “making money in your pajamas”.But that is just my view. Other people may have other opinion and I respect them.. :)

7 - You rule

Within reason you can be your own boss. This means that your day is not dependant on whether your boss is having a bad day or not.

Comment: If you are the boss. You are also the staff. Many people have the mindset of being a boss is less work and more thinking. If you are starting out, you have to do many things. Its a one man show! But don’t take it from the negative point of view. We all can achieve our goal. We just need to challenge our self.

Despite my comment, I really have to say I love the article and it gave me motivation on what I currently working on. I wish Dean will share more of his thoughts so that I can learn more.

p/s: sorry for any grammar mistakes.. I just write what I want to write and I am also sleepy :P
